A broker can only be a person licensed by the State of Florida. A broker may operate his or her own real estate company or brokerage, and/or may manage sales associates, and/or may engage in real estate services independently, without being under the supervision of another broker. It is illegal for any person to engage in real estate services, or operate as a broker, without a valid and current real estate broker's license issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
